Today marks the Equinox and with it comes the official first day of Autumn – we’ve officially made it to my favourite time of year! It’s been creeping up for a little while, the changing seasons always seem to start earlier than I expect, but there is still plenty to come. The colours on the trees have started to change but there is plenty of green left, ready to turn into the crisp yellows, golds, reds and browns, in time for the leaves to fall and carpet the ground around them.
The temperature is cooling but again has a while to go. Cold may not be the most pleasant, but when it means you can pop on an extra cosy jumper or snuggle down under a soft blanket in the evenings, it becomes a far more pleasant experience.
It’s a great time of the year for food, everything tastes better with added cinnamon after september, which is the excuse you need to get baking and creating sweet treats, filling your home with wonderful smells in the process. There’s nothing quite like a chilly morning with the scent of warm fresh cookies floating through the house.
Mostly though, I’m most excited to get outside. Autumn makes me realise quite how beautiful the world around us is, and it reminds me to get out and get walking as often as I can. I’m looking forward to exploring the woods and forests as the colours change, adventuring through my local area that little bit further.
What are you looking forward to this Autumn?
