There’s something quite special about imperfect images. I took these a few years ago and didn’t share them at the time as I wasn’t so happy with them. My model was as cute as ever, but I was frustrated by the light, the angles, and the way the backdrop fell. Looking back at these now, it’s those features that make these photographs special. I feel sad that I didn’t deem these ‘good enough’ to share, but equally, I’m glad I can look back on them with fresh eyes and enjoy them. The aspects I thought were wrong are actually the things that add character to these photos; the shadows of the creased sheet, the way the uneven patches of sunlight make her fur glow bright gold, and the fact that she was at ease enough to lay down and sleep, rather than sit up and pose as I had envisioned. Sometimes it’s good to leave things for a while, as you quite often see things differently the second time around.
