Wishing you all a happy, safe & peaceful Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for…

Crisp Autumn days with blue skies and crunchy leaves

Chilly nights that make fluffy blankets a necessity

A resilient little puppy that made it through surgery and is recovering well at home

Red wine and braised red cabbage, but not necessarily at the same time

Socks that match, and survive the washing machine while remaining as a pair

Gilmore Girls, and the 7 full seasons available online to distract from dark evenings

Pumpkin Pie, pumpkin pie season, and the fact that November is a good enough excuse in itself to bake one.

The fact that we’re mere days away from being able to put up a Christmas tree without too much judgement

Fresh coffee in the mornings

Wonderful friends who send cheery WhatsApp messages exactly when you need them

The life changing magic of a heated towel rack on cold mornings

Marshmallows that melt into syrupy hot chocolate

Family and friends near and far who are always there when you need them

Sweatshirts worn in just enough to be oh-so soft and comfy

Cosy cafes that remember your order when you walk through the door

Festive lights adorning the local high street to brighten up the dark afternoons

You, for visiting and reading. Thank you.

A footnote: I’m well aware that Thanksgiving is not a UK holiday, however I do celebrate it despite living here. I also think that even if it’s not something you celebrate, taking a moment to be thankful and grateful is always a good thing.

  • So glad to hear your pup is recovering well! Lovely post 🙂

Hi Carrie! I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now and i’m loving it!
I’m from Spain but I live in France, and thanksgiving is not a holiday in neither one or the other and i’m really sad about it, I think it’s good to take some time to just realize the good things in our lives and be thankful for them, so this year i’m celebrating just like you!

Also, i’ve been hearing about Gilmore Girls since forever but i’ve never watched a single episode so I think that’s what i’m going to do right now, under a fluffy blanket!

    Have a nice evening!

    Ester 🙂
