My Morning Coffee

It would appear I can’t live without my morning coffee, but I’m not entirely sure that’s a bad thing. When I wake up on a cold morning and it hasn’t managed to yet get light, the thought of a steaming hot cup is enough to get me out of bed. It’s become a little ritual to make myself a ‘proper’ coffee in the morning; my preferred brew is a flavoured latte, so in my sleepy state I heat up the milk, choose a syrup and brew the coffee, and by the time the cup is in my hand, I’m usually awake enough to start the day.

Drinking it is as much a part of the ritual as the making. Even on busy days, I try to sit back on the sofa for twenty minutes and enjoy the cup. Sometimes with breakfast, and some days just the coffee will do. I catch up on instagram, read a book or watch a little bit of TV, but generally just sit for a little while without doing all that much. It’s a part of my routine that I love, and means I make sure to get up early enough to fit it in, which feels like a great way to start my day. A little bit of extra time in the mornings to sit and contemplate before starting the the day makes all the difference, it leaves me feeling more prepared and generally little more ready for whatever it may throw at me. It’s become such a part of my routine that I don’t like to go without it, and might even be one of my favourite parts of the day.

How do you take your morning coffee?

  • I’m not really a coffee kinda girl but a cup of tea or a latte? Sure!

  • Mmm this sounds lush! I’m a Mocha gal (anything chocolate tbh) or sometimes a good Gingerbread latte if I’m out at a cafe (can’t perfect it myself)! I too love that time in the morning to wake up and get ready for the day!

  • I do the same routine, except with tea! My favourite for this time of the year is caramel black tea. The perfect treat to start the day with!

  • I’m exactly the same, coffee is just the one

  • I don’t know how to make coffee and I don’t have a coffee machine, so sometimes I’ll just make an instant coffee from a powder. I’ve been having hazelnut lattes. For me, it’s more about having a warm drink in my hand and smelling those nutty flavours 🙂 I would like to learn how to make a proper cup of coffee though! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

Mmmm, yes, I have been getting my French press out every morning for a proper cup too. I do have access to free coffee at work, but there is something so lovely about doing something for yourself in the morning. Besides, I rather enjoy a good morning read, which is hard to do without a bit of caffeine running through me.

Your photos are so beautiful! Love all the autumn colours in your posts recently. Also completely agree with you on the morning coffee – it’s the only thing to get me going in the mornings xx

  • When I’m at home, I get up and have at least 2 black coffees (with sweetener). Now I’m at uni, we’re not allowed kettles in our rooms so I have to wait until I get too the dining hall.

  • Lovely photos, so glad I came across your blog!

  • What a wonderful way to face the morning I think I may have to give this a go although I’m more of a tea drinker myself! Thank you for sharing and inspiring lovely.

I am very much the same, but I’m all about the tea. Can’t function without a good cup of English Breakfast Tea in the morning! x

  • We recently invested in a nespresso machine which also happened to come with a milk frother, so I make myself a lovely hot soya latte and I have just started to pop some fruit syrup in to sweeten it! I’ve started making my coffee and then heading to read some blogs before I start my day!
Lovely photographs too I must say! x

  • Morning coffees on cold days are pretty much the best thing. Smelling the coffee before i get out of bed is probably my happiest childhood memory

  • Funnily enough, I don’t drink coffee! Well, I might have an odd cuppa here or there, but you’ll rarely ever find me drinking it if it’s not in an Iced Capp from Tim Hortons. Maple in it sounds amazing, though! x

I do exactly the same Carrie!:) Every morning I try to wake up at least half an hour earlier to sip my coffee on my sofa, wrapped up in my woolly blanket…it’s a routine for me too, the perfect way to start the day slowly.. appreciating the silence and the beauty of the city that wakes up!!

  • As a coffee obsessed person I loved this post! Around 10-12 is when I start feeling sleepy so that’s when I need my coffee. I like mine iced with a splash of vanilla favored almond milk. ♥

  • I like a nice strong espresso mixed with soya milk. I like to sit in absolute silence with the door closed so I can wake up slowly on my own with no interruption – sounds terrible doesn’t it! When I am not going to work I like to have breakfast whilst going through Instagram and chilling for a good couple of hours before I get on with life!
