Makeup isn’t everything. It’s perfectly fine to leave the house without any, and in fact I regularly do. However, sometimes I feel caught out if I’m out and about with nothing on my face, and if a little touch up makes me feel a little better, then I’m all for it!
I keep a little zip purse in my bag with a few essentials. They are all miniatures and so live in there permanently, so if I end up staying over somewhere, or my plans change in the middle of the day and I don’t have time to pop home, I’ve always got a little stock of basics with me. I’m always mightily impressed by those girls that carry around a full makeup bag, but I just don’t have the space for that, and in all honesty, just the basics suits me just fine.
My little bag is by Zoella Beauty, it’s lightweight and the perfect size for just what I need. Inside I keep two compacts, a perfume, lip balm, lipstick, mascara and brush set, and it’s just enough for a little touch up to make me feel and look a little more alive when I need it.
If I could only carry one item, it would be my Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Palette, containing mini versions of my daily foundation, alongside corrector, concealer and powder. It’s not the sort of thing I’d do a full base with, but is perfect for brightening any dark eyes and covering any blemishes when needed.
I have quite patchy brows and so feel a lot more ready for the day once they are filled in. Benefit’s Brow Zings is my remedy for this, a poured brow gel and powder in a lightweight compact with a folded double ended brush, making it perfect for on the go.
For a freshen up throughout the day, I keep a rollerball version of my favourite perfume, Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse Chic. Unfortunately rollerballs can be hard to find, but I managed to grab mine in a Cosmetics Company Outlet store, and I believe you can find them at Sephora too.
The lipstick is just whatever I’m wearing at the moment, which more often than not is BareMineral’s Honeybun. I always keep a pot of Carmex near by, and the fact that it’s a Charlie Brown pot makes me smile whenever I see it. For mascara emergencies I carry a mini Benefit Bad Gal Lash, and the brush minis are a set by Lottie London.
