Blackberry Picking

The harvest season is upon us!

How wonderful is it that sweet treats grow out of hedgerows at this time of year?

I for one can’t resist an afternoon stroll to gather blackberries. If they make it home, they are perfect for a pie or crumble, though they rarely do.

I adore how the dark, glistening berries produce the most luscious purple juice. Staining fingers and mouths that just can’t resist a bite.

Being able to help yourself to the delicacies of the countryside is a luxury I’ll never tire of. What a wonderful time of year!

  • Beautiful! My parents have wild blackberries in their backyard. You’re right, they are wonderful for crumble!

  • You write so beautifully and intricately and I’m always in awe of your photos! Blackberry and apple crumble is absolutely divine and I used to love blackberry picking as a kid down the bottom of our neighbour’s garden – totally need to start doing it again now!

  • Oh how fun. I have never been berry picking. 🙂

  • It has been so long since I’ve been berry picking! I need to see if there is anywhere around here where I can do that, because all of the bushes around my parents’ home are gone 🙁

  • What lovely photos you’ve taken! I’m glad it’s blackberry season too, though I’ve noticed the ones near me are looking a bit small and mean… they’re not plump and juicy! I’ll have to check back soon and see if they’ve plumped up a little more. 🙂

  • Looks so lovely – I love blackberry picking!
