A Spring Style Update

Now that Spring has ‘officially’ arrived, I can start thinking about my spring wardrobe. I have a fairly basic wardrobe and loosely follow the ‘capsule’ idea, I don’t stick to an exact number of pieces but have a small selection of clothes that I mix and match and change up every season (Do let me know if you want to hear any more about that!). The best thing about my ‘capsule’ inspired wardrobe is that I wear what I love and I love what I wear, which means I don’t feel the need to change things up very often. It’s been months since I last bought clothes, but decided on treating myself to a few new pieces for spring; a blush pink oversized cardigan, a long sleeve stripe top and a new pair of wear-with-everything jeans.

Simple yet Stylish

I’d describe my style as very simple. I stick to comfortable basics, and rarely stray from jeans and a jumper. This might not be that interesting to some, but it suits me down to the ground, it’s comfortable, practical and I know it suits my shape. Finding the perfect pair of jeans is challenging, as a curvy, 5ft1 lady then petite or ‘short’ length is a must. I’m also a fan of high rise and skinny jeans. My current favourites are this new pair from Hollister, or Mint Velvet’s Joliet Jean, both of which come with a ‘short’ length. When it comes to tops, I prefer them loose and floaty. Stripes are always a great option, but I can also often be found in a loose cut grey tee, or a cosy sweatshirt.

Neutrals with a Pop

I usually stick to a basic colour palette. Blue or black jeans, black, blue and grey tops, the odd maroon jumper, and some breton stripes thrown in for good measure. Brighter days and longer daylight hours this year have inspired me to mix it up a little and I’m throwing in a few more shades. Nothing too drastic, I’m enjoying a little pop of blush pink here and there. While I might not be that adventurous with my clothes, I enjoy getting a little brighter with my nails in the spring, bringing in some fresh mints and glowy reds.

Spring Beauty

I always see Spring as the perfect time to mix up my makeup bag too. A little while ago I shared a little spring update to my beauty stash, but to summarise, I’ve been mixing up my bases and adding a few more spring ready shades. I’ve since picked up a few more of the new BareMinerals Gen Nude collection, they have the most perfect nude and peachy glosses that are perfect for the season. I’m also switching my fragrances for something a little more fresh and floral, and going back to an old favourite of Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb.

What are you enjoying wearing at the moment?

  • It’s still feeling like winter where I am, so I haven’t yet transitioned into a spring wardrobe! I see myself continuing to wear my high-rise girlfriend jeans though 🙂 The cardigan you picked out looks cosy! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

  • Lovely picks! I always like to switch my fragrances with every season. xx

Stripes are definitely the one! I have so many different style stripy things and I do find they are perfect for Spring/Summer. <3 I also LOVE the Flowerbomb perfume – it's one of the first ones I ever started wearing and has such a special place in my heart x

  • Stripes are my year-round staple but now I don’t have to layer it as much! I go for something relaxed for work usually – loose trousers and jumper and that usually works best. My #1 is always comfort!

  • I have a similar style to yours! I live in jeans but they suit my figure and I feel so comfortable in them. I find the more worn in the better they look! I am a big fan of neutrals, think whites, navy blue and at the moment I’m loving pastel and charcoal greys.. they’re such easy combinations to throw together and I love a good stripe or two! Love your photos 🙂
