You may remember a post I shared back in January entitled A Simple 2017. I shared my goals and intentions for the year ahead, specifically around the theme of simplifying my life. It was a good start, but wasn’t the push I needed, and a few months later as often happens with new year resolutions, I fell off the path. It is all however, still very true and relevant, and so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a restart.
Going back even further, if you’ve been reading from the early days of this blog, I shared my reasoning for rebranding to One Pleasant Day. The site became what it is today thanks to a combination of wanting a fresh start, a new direction to follow and the desire to focus on happiness and positivity. This latest ‘development’ therefore feels like a natural progression; I’m still on my quest to make every day a pleasant one, but have discovered that a set direction, to simplify my everyday life, may just be the solution I’ve been looking for.
As well as outlining my reasoning for a change in, I thought I should also set out my goals and intentions. I first wrote a list but felt that may be complicating things, as it can really be summed up by the following thought:
I am going to simplify my life by removing clutter, stress and unnecessary complications, to focus on the things that truly matter, and that make me happy.
Less of a goal, but instead an aim, or a mission statement. Whatever it’s called, it’s my focus for moving forward. Implementing it obviously isn’t going to be quick or easy, but I feel by declaring my intentions loudly and publicly, I’m holding myself to it in a way, making myself more accountable now that this plan of action has an audience.
So, if you’d like to follow along on this journey to simpler living, please do stick around, as I’m sure I’ll have plenty to say on the matter. I will be sharing what’s helped, what works and what doesn’t, and also continuing to share my love for the simple joys in life, and how we can all find a little more happiness in the little things. Thanks for reading.
