This past month has brought a number of exciting new things and new releases, and so I thought I’d share a few of my favourites!
My favourite local tea makers have released 4 new epic blends for Summer 2016, and they are all rather fabulous! The four very different but all very interesting new flavours each evoke summer in their own way; Jelly & Ice Cream reminding me of parties back in the day, Sangria channeling hot summer nights (which you can serve with or without alcohol), Strawberry Split adding a delicious fruity twist to green tea, and Red Velvet, transforming the ultimate indulgence into the classic cuppa! The teas themselves are as beautiful as they are delicious, with real petals, fruit pieces and even sugar stars, I like brewing mine with a handy basket, but you can also pick up some DIY bags, making loose leaf tea super simple! If you’re local though, pop into one of their stores to try it out, as it’s extra special when brewed by the experts!
Two new fragrances have made their way into my collection recently. Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse Chic is one of my favourites, one I might go as far as to call my ‘signature scent’ as I wear it every day. I managed to find a rollerball version in a Cosmetic Co. Outlet a while ago, meaning I can take it with me for top ups on the go!
A new fragrance I’ve been really enjoying is The Body Shop’s new Polynesian Island Tiaré. It’s a warm, heavy floral scent that to me smells like Argan Oil, a scent that I love on my hair and turns out works beautifully as an everyday fragrance. The little domed bottle is gorgeous too, and looks and smells far more expensive than the £15 price tag.
I’m not normally a huge fan of coconut, unless there’s a whole lot of rum involved. You wouldn’t catch me with a coconut water, but I never say no to a Pina Colada, so The Body Shop’s new Pinita Colada range is a hit with me. It’s fruity, it’s fresh and is available all of their class formats (body sorbet, shower gel, body butter), and a bonus Cream Scrub to get your skin feeling summer ready. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy smelling like a walking cocktail, but I just can’t get enough of it. It’s limited edition though, so you may need to move quickly on this one!
I want to give this one a little more testing before delivering a full verdict, but first impressions on The Body Shop’s new Skin Defence Multi Protection Essence are very positive. My skin is prone to scarring and dark spots so a good SPF is essential, so this little tube of 50++++ is the kind of protection I like to see! It’s very light and so blends into the skin really easily leaving no dodgy white residue like a lot of high SPF lotions, and has a light, fresh fragrance that’s nowhere near overpowering. This summer will be a good test so I’ll report back after some sunshine, but it’s pleasant and easy to wear every day which is definitely a good thing.
Lastly comes a slightly different product, a sort of skincare/makeup hybrid. I was inclined to think these might be a little gimmicky but I’m actually really enjoying using them. I’ve been using them as 3 separate products rather than 3 shades of the same as they all work a little differently. ‘Bright Glow’ comes out of the tube white, and works well on the tops of the cheeks and forehead as a lovely natural looking highlighter, adding glow with no dreaded glitter or shimmer. ‘Peachy Glow’ adds a gorgeous healthy looking warmth and so looks lovely when blended into the cheeks. The product is a fairly scary peachy orange straight from the tube, but blends beautifully with a brush. ‘Warm Glow’ works as a liquid bronzer on my pale skin, and looks lovely blended in as a contour, or mixed in with my regular BB cream to make me look like I’ve finally seen some sun. They work well as an under foundation primer, over foundation as highlights, and also just by themselves. I have been wearing these on no-foundation days to add a bit of colour, and so the SPF 20 is an added bonus!
Please note, some of the products featured in this post may have been sent to me for review purposes. My views are always honest and entirely my own!
