It would appear I can’t live without my morning coffee, but I’m not entirely sure that’s a bad thing. When I wake up on a cold morning and it hasn’t managed to yet get light, the thought of a steaming hot cup is enough to get me out of bed. It’s become a little ritual to make myself a ‘proper’ coffee in the morning; my preferred brew is a flavoured latte, so in my sleepy state I heat up the milk, choose a syrup and brew the coffee, and by the time the cup is in my hand, I’m usually awake enough to start the day.
Drinking it is as much a part of the ritual as the making. Even on busy days, I try to sit back on the sofa for twenty minutes and enjoy the cup. Sometimes with breakfast, and some days just the coffee will do. I catch up on instagram, read a book or watch a little bit of TV, but generally just sit for a little while without doing all that much. It’s a part of my routine that I love, and means I make sure to get up early enough to fit it in, which feels like a great way to start my day. A little bit of extra time in the mornings to sit and contemplate before starting the the day makes all the difference, it leaves me feeling more prepared and generally little more ready for whatever it may throw at me. It’s become such a part of my routine that I don’t like to go without it, and might even be one of my favourite parts of the day.
How do you take your morning coffee?
