One of my favourite things about December is the excuse to rewatch all of my favourite festive films, however cheesy and silly some of them may be! Perhaps the best thing about these movies is that I watch them every year but never seem to get bored; part of the fun is the tradition of watching them again and again! In reality I could probably list 20 movies I love to watch (I’ve yet to actually find anything about Santa, snow, or corny winter romances that I didn’t enjoy), but have whittled it down to my favourite five…
A Charlie Brown Christmas – one of my oldest favourites and one I watch this multiple times every year. There’s just something about the ancient animations of the characters skating around on a frozen lake that brings a smile to my face. Sidenote – the soundtrack to this by Vince Guaraldi, might just be the best Christmas album of all time.
Love Actually – A British classic and one I watch every year while wrapping presents (not sure why, it’s just a great movie to wrap to). The intertwined stories are so romantic, heart wrenching, funny, silly and everything in between, it’s one to make you cry and laugh all at once.
Elf – The silliest on the list, and one to get you in the Christmas spirit if you’re not quite feeling it yet. The best way to spread Christmas cheer…
Miracle on 34th Street – The 1994 version is my favourite as it’s the one I’ve grown up watching. Possibly the most Christmassy of all the Christmas films – nothing says festive like a heartwarming tale in New York City.
The Santa Clause – Tim Allen will always be Santa in my book, this one always makes me laugh and is a great Christmas Eve movie. It’s another film I’ve watched every year for as long as I can remember, and it just doesn’t feel like Christmas without it!
