Our second night in the states was spent in Florida, visiting old friends who we hadn’t seen in far too long. Their garden backs onto a swamp so we couldn’t resist a bit of exploring. Despite a few angry mosquitos it was a beautiful place to go for a wander, the trees were all fairly magical, especially the Palmettos like the one above, which were taller than I’ve ever seen before.
When back in the garden, as if by magic, an owl swooped across into a tree and sat beautifully still to have his picture taken.
Max, our friends’ lovely poodle, was also very obliging on the photo front. What a sweetie!
It was sadly just a brief night stop, but we couldn’t leave in the morning without a little wander on the beach.
We came across a Horseshoe Crab, which looks an awful lot more like a dinosaur than a crab if you ask me.
It was a shame we couldn’t stay longer, but it was a rather lovely night stop nonetheless! Stay tuned for part 3 tomorrow!
