Today, I’m finally hitting ‘publish’ on my brand new project: One Pleasant Day.
To explain what it is, I feel that I should share how we got here.
If you have no idea who I am, and happened to have stumbled here on launch day entirely by accident, then to catch you up, I’m Carrie. I’m a photographer and writer, in my twenties, living in Brighton with three men: my boyfriend, a teacher, a guitarist, and a cat that doesn’t belong to any of us. I moved to Brighton a while ago to complete a degree in education. I got bored at some point during my first year and started a blog, ‘carriebrighton’, to accompany my instagram account, so I could elaborate a little more on the pictures I was sharing. Through various sharing sites back in the Cupboard day, I found some other local bloggers, was persuaded to join twitter and entered what has now become the blogosphere as we know it today, and explosion of creativity, full of likeminded individuals sharing their loves, hates, thoughts and experiences on their own sites.
I started my blog with little direction other than to give myself something to do. I wasn’t all that well at the time, so I wanted to create a positive place to work online and believe I succeeded, as three years later I have a blog that I am proud of which is, although fairly jumbled, a collection of moments, memories and various things I have enjoyed seeing, using and doing. At times it’s been a food blog, a fashion blog, a lifestyle blog, but always tended to settle around a beauty blog. I am in no means a beauty expert, but that’s what everyone else was doing, and so it seemed the ‘correct’ path to head down. For a while now however, I’ve felt it drifting in the opposite direction to which I would like to be going. I’m a very different person than the one that started that blog; a whole lot of things have happened since Photo then, Himachal mostly good, and I’ve grown a fair bit too, so it’s not surprising that the site I started three years ago may not still be the best fit.
I considered a rebrand, and I thought about deleting the whole thing and starting from scratch, both of which filled me with panic. Three years is far too long to work on something just to throw it out, and it’s not at all that I’ve completely fallen out of love with it, it’s just time for a change. Something new, some to fit me a little better, and something to move forward with a better sense of where I’m planning on going.
I have therefore decided that CarrieBrighton is best staying put. I don’t want to lose it or change it, as Vacation it did it’s job so perfectly and it would be a shame to see it go. My instagram, pinterest and twitter are the same, just with a little facelift, but this site is brand new.
And so, I would like to formally introduce to you: One Pleasant Day. This is a particularly exciting time for me as not only is it the launch of a new site, but of an overall brand. Today I’m welcoming you to my new business too, One Pleasant Day Photography. You can check out the shop front here or in the ‘Shop‘ link above. I’m starting by selling some of my most favourite photos and prints, and moving towards offering more photography services as I find my feet, but more on that later.
I, personally, am not a brand. I am a person. Just little old me, as I’ve always been. Putting my name as my blog name and therefore my brand name wholesale nba jerseys was beginning to feel wrong for me. I wasn’t trying to publish myself to the world as a product, or as a brand, and so that’s why I felt it was time to take it out. One Pleasant Day therefore isn’t me, but rather something I am working towards. It’s somewhere new to write more, write more openly and honestly, and share my life, as it stands, with whoever Concept is reading. It’s an expression of my manifesto and everything I’m trying to achieve. It’s waking up on a Sunday morning and realising all you have to do today is make a cup of tea and maybe catch up with a good book. It’s the sunlight streaming through your window as you make your breakfast. It’s the first frost settling of winter, and it’s the feeling you get when you snuggle down under a blanket in cheap jerseys front of the fire after a long day.
Now we’re caught up, I’d like to invite you to explore a little further. Check out my first recipe, or my collection of photographs without a home. Have a peek at my shop and take a look at my first round of prints for sale. Sign up to my mailing list to a cheap mlb jerseys receive a love letter in your inbox every other Saturday. It is after all a brand new site, so any help in spreading it further would be greatly appreciated. If you love it, please share it, and do let me know what you think!
Carrie
PS: Just a little bit of housekeeping: I was planning on moving my bloglovin followers straight over here but due to a few technical hiccups, that’s staying put for the time being. If you would like to follow me on there, I’d greatly appreciate it, but please ignore the draft/test posts from before the launch that are still displaying, I’m hoping to get rid cheap nfl jerseys of these soon!
