Things Making Me Smile #6

It might be considered a cliche, but I think it’s a really important thing to focus on the positives in life, especially when you’re feeling low. Often listing happy things is the last thing I want to do if I’m not feeling so great, but it usually always does the trick and gets me back on track of thinking a little more positively. So, without further ado, a few things that have been putting a smile on my face lately:

* Festive Coffee. I recently had a good stock up in TK Maxx of their seasonal coffees, and waking up to a cup of caramel/pumpkin/pecan deliciousness in the mornings feels like a great way to start the day. Next on my shopping list is Harvest Spice – also note the wonderful discovery that you can buy these online!

* Conkers, and chestnuts, which I know I have mentioned previously, but still finding streets and paths littered with shiny little seasonal gems cheers me up even when I’m walking in the rain.

* October. I had a little panic that October was getting away from us, but then realised that it just means the best time of year is coming a little faster than planned. It might be dark and cold, but that means we’re even closer to Halloween, Bonfire Night and Thanksgiving, cosy nights snuggled on the sofa and the excuse to indulge in hot chocolate and plenty of marshmallows.

* Women of the Internet. Sadly, the media is yet again filled with heartbreaking stories and some downright awful things that I won’t get into now, but focusing on silver linings, I have been blown away by the bravery, honesty and compassion of women on the internet this week. To be perfectly honest, it’s pretty horrendous that we are having to have these discussions at all, but every time I log onto a social media feed, I see yet more women bravely opening up and sharing their stories with the world to support others, raise awareness and make change, and I think that is something to be proud of.

What’s been making you smile this week?

  • JoannasCorner

One thing that made me smile was being cosy on the sofa the other day, with a hot chocolate in one hand, planning out my winter blog calendar. It is definitely my favourite season and cannot wait for the festivities to begin!!

  • That festive coffee sounds amazing! I need to have a shop around in TK Maxx to see if I can find these awesome coffee flavours! Hope you’re having a lovely week 🙂 x

  • I love lists like this – they always put a smile on my face! I’m thinking of starting to do something similar too, but let’s see if it comes to anything!

I can’t believe how fast time is flying either, but if that means that Christmas will be here sooner then I’m okay with it! xx

  • I deffo need to check TK Maxx out for their coffees by the sounds of it!

  • A week ago I decided to cut coffee out of my system, which was difficult for the first few days (headaches!), but not so bad now. Now I just want coffee but I don’t need it. The festive coffees are seriously tempting me, but I gotta stay strong! // Lighting candles makes me smile 🙂 -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I cannot wait to feel more festive it’s making me so happy too! This week I haven’t been very social but snuggling up at home on the dark, windy and rainy nights inside has made me so happy. Dark mornings not so much though!

  • Ah yes I too have felt so inspired by all the brave women of the internet (plus family & friends) this week. It has been shocking to hear some of the horrific stories, but it is a step in the right direction to raise awareness and really make a change. All those festive coffees sound delicious, I am now craving some sort of pecan / caramel / spiced bev! Ooft! Hope you have a lovely weekend lady. Immy x

  • I’m really enjoying autumn this year, as much as I usually hate the cold weather, I’m embracing it as best I can right now. I’m also loving chai latte’s, I can’t seem to get enough of them, so I think I’m gonna go on a hunt for some more festive tea/coffee to try!
